Congenital abnormalities of the head and face are treated by surgeons of the internationally renowned Dutch Craniofacial Center. We closely collaborate with our neurosurgeons, maxillofacial and ENT surgeons to provide the best outcome.We provide care for patients with various disorders, including, but not limited to:

The aim of oncological reconstructive surgery is to reduce the impact of cancer treatment and improve quality of life for cancer patients by restoring function and appearance of different parts of the body after tumor resection. This type of reconstructive surgery is generally performed after treatment for skin cancer, breast cancer, and cancer in the head and neck area. Oncological reconstruction includes reconstruction following preventive surgery, for instance in patients with a genetic risk for developing malignancies.

Similar surgical techniques are employed to restore malformations acquired following trauma. This care is all provided in collaboration with our colleagues from the departments of surgical oncology, maxillofacial surgery, ENT surgery, thoracic surgery, neurosurgery, dermatology, gynecology and trauma surgery.

Our physicians also treat hand, wrist and nerve abnormalities. Congenital malformations of the hand and upper limbs, such as polydactyly and radial dysplasia, are treated at the internationally renowned Erasmus MC Center for Congenital Hand and Upper Limb Malformations. Acquired and traumatic conditions that impair the function of the upper extremities are treated by our specialized hand surgeons. The best results are obtained by joining forces with specialists from the departments of trauma surgery, orthopedics and rehabilitation.
